Two Technical Writing Jobs + Resume Consulting

Intergraph is currently interviewing for two technical writer positions. The job descriptions and contact information are posted below. Job Title: Principal Technical Writer

Location: Huntsville, Alabama

Description:

Under limited supervision, prepares, writes, edits, and produces technical documentation deliverables, including installation guides, system administrator guides, user guides, and online Help systems in support of software products.

Work is completed in compliance with deadlines negotiated with management. Analyzes developments in a specific field of activity to determine the need for revisions, corrections, and changes in previously produced materials and the development of new materials. Reviews manuscripts and recommends changes. Selects and recommends graphics, such as, drawings, diagrams, pictures, or charts, to illustrate manuscript.

Will perform other reasonable and related duties. The Company reserves the right to change duties at any time

Requirements:

Two or more years of applicable experience in design, development, and writing technical documentation and Help systems in support of software products. Requires highly developed analytical and organizational skills. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced Scrum Agile team environment. Experience with documentation production tools, Microsoft Windows and Office, and keyboarding skills. Instructional design skills are desirable.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Technical Writing, Journalism, or English with a minor or area of concentration in Computer Science, Engineering, City Planning, or Utilities a plus.

Job Title: Principal Technical Writer

Description

  • Primary focus will be in the preparation of technical Statement of Work contacts for Public Safety customers.
  • Responsibilities will include; pricing, collation and review of technical input for project scope description, understanding and reviewing contractual terms and conditions and managing the process of document creation and editing within specified time constraints.

Job Requirements

  • Prefer candidate who has a strong interested in the Public Safety environment who is looking to be involved in the business aspects of project definition and control.
  • At least two (2) years of technical writing.

Education

Bachelor’s degree with two years of technical writing or an MIS degree.

Temporary Editor/Microsoft Word Expert

Analytical Services, Inc. (ASI) has an immediate need for a temporary consultant Microsoft Word expert. This is more of an editing position than a writing position. The individual would have to be available after hours and may work throughout the night editing and formatting daily updates. The individual would need to know Microsoft Word as an expert – inserting tables, graphics, two column documents, using the auto create Table of Content feature. This is not an elementary or moderate user but an advanced user.
